We write to advise you of the recent announcement made by Nokia Inc that they are currently in advanced talks to sell its security appliances business to a financial investor, and that it will halt its corporate software development (Nokia Intellisync). This announcement to sell its security business which offers products such as firewalls and VPNs, Nokia have advised that should this likely sale conclude over the next few weeks, all rights will be transferred to the new Company with the exception of the Nokia branding which is to be retained for it's mobile telephone business. Nokia Software development of the Intellisync mobility solutions will cease on Oct 31st 2008, with continued support for a further 2 years only. Although we are confident that the new face of Nokia Security will continue to offer a strong set of products, we feel it is our responsibility to remind you that you do have choices. MIS CDS are more than happy to discuss Nokia and your choices with you at any stage in the immediate future. Also announced is the continued relationship with Check Point Software Technologies Inc (Check Point), and its continued development. However in the past few months, Check Point has also launched their own set of appliances which offer a comprehensive solution of firewalling and VPNs, thus providing you the customer, with more choice.
