Based on Foundry’s unique Layer 4-7 network processor technology and JetCore line modules, the ServerIron 450 and 850 switches enable highly scalable gigabit and blade server farms. Using the most innovative security features and the high performance architecture, these switches protect mission-critical applications and server farms from multi-gigabit wire-speed Denial of Service (DoS) attacks. ServerIronGT™ E-Series High Availability and Expandable Layer 4-7 Application and Traffic Management Switches

Foundry’s ServerIronGT E-Series is a family of purpose-built high availability Layer 4-7 application switches for the business-critical application and server farm infrastructure of Enterprises and Service Providers. These switches deliver the convenience of an appliance, traditionally only available on a PC platform, without sacrificing high availability, expandability and performance upgradeability to meet current and future business needs. With a choice of three products in the family offering a range of port and performance configurations, the E-Series switches are designed to meet the diverse business needs of both Enterprises and Service Providers. This family also features the industry’s first high availability 10 Gigabit application switch for high demand and throughput applications. Choice of three products come pre-equipped with management and line modules for ready and easy deployment in an existing network infrastructure, and can be expanded for higher port density.

ServerIronGT EGC16 – Pre-equipped with 16-port 100/1000 Mbps Copper line module and a two-processor management module. One processor performs dedicated and reliable device management while the other processor performs application switching and traffic management. This system delivers up to 50,000 Layer-4 connections per second including data transfer, or DoS protection against up to 1.2 million TCP SYN requests per second.

ServerIronGT E2404 High Density 10/100 and Gigabit Ethernet Layer 4-7 Application and Traffic Management Switch

Foundry’s ServerIronGT E2404 switch is a new member of the award-winning ServerIronGT E-Series family of purpose-built high availability Layer 4-7 application switches for the business-critical application and server farm infrastructure of Enterprises and Service Providers. These switches deliver the convenience of a pre-equipped appliance, traditionally only available on a PC platform, without sacrificing high availability, expandability and performance upgradeability to meet current and future business needs.

The new model is ideally suited for 10/100 Ethernet server farms that connect to Gigabit network core. The product offers Gigabit (fiber and Copper) connectivity for flexible network connectivity, and future migration to Gigabit server designs without forklift replacement. With 24-ports of 10/100 Ethernet, the product offers superior density with high performance application switching for existing load balancing infrastructure upgrade, or new build outs with 10/100 Ethernet density requirements. The empty slot in the system can be used to expand Gigabit port density or increase performance by adding dual management module. The ServerIron E2404 model comes pre-equipped with a management module and one double width line module for ready and easy deployment in an existing network and server farm infrastructures, and can be expanded for higher port density in the future.

The switch is capable of intelligently segregating Layer 2/3 flows from Layer 4-7 application flows. The Layer 2/3 pass-through traffic flows are switched at wire-speed in Hardware, dedicating all the management processing to Layer 4-7 application flows for optimised application delivery.
